I  Man’s State by Nature

  1. The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5)
  2. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. (Psalm 51:5)
  3. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9)
  4. For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. (Mark 17:21,22)
  5. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. (John 3:6)
  6. The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. (Romans 8:7)
  7. As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins. – Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. (Eph 2:1,3)

II  Man’s State by Practice

  1. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. (Psalm 14:3)
  2. There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. (Ecclesiastes 7:20)
  3. All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6)
  4. There is no one righteous, not even one. (Romans 3:1)
  5. The righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:22,23)
  6. Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12)
  7. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. – If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar. (1 John 1:8,10)

III  There Must Be a Change

  1. Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)
  2. Unless you repent, you too will all perish. (Luke 13:3)
  3. I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. (John 3:3)
  4. The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)
  5. All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law. (Galatians 3:10)
  6. Sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (James 1:15)
  7. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. (1 John 3:8)

IV  God’s Thoughts of Man

  1. As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. (Ezekiel 33:11)
  2. God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
  3. God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
  4. God our Saviour, wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3,4)
  5. For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. (Titus 2:11)
  6. The Lord is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
  7. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:10)

V  Christ’s Work for Man

  1. He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
  2. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)
  3. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
  4. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:3)
  5. God made him (Christ) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  6. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. (Galatians 3:13)
  7. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree. (1 Peter 2:24)

VI  Value of Christ’s Blood

  1. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you. (Exodus 12:13)
  2. It is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. (Lev. 17:11)
  3. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:28)
  4. In him (Jesus) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins. (Ephesians 1:7)
  5. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life – but with the precious blood of Christ. (1 Peter 1:18,19)
  6. The blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
  7. You were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. (Revelation 5:9)

VII  Christ’s Invitation to Sinners

  1. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
  2. Come, for everything is now ready. (Luke 14:17)
  3. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (John 6:37)
  4. If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. (John 7:37)
  5. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. (John 10:9)
  6. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. (Revelation 21:6)
  7. Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. (Revelation 22:17)

VIII  What Christ Is Able to Do

  1. He is able to save completely those who come to God through him. (Hebrews 7:25)
  2. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. (Hebrews 2:18)
  3. I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. (2 Timothy 1:12)
  4. Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. (Romans 4:21)
  5. God is able to make all grace abound to you. (2 Cor. 9:8)
  6. He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)
  7. He is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy. (Jude 24)

IX  How to Be Saved

  1. Whoever believes in him is not condemned. (John 3:18)
  2. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. (John 3:36)
  3. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. (Acts 10:43)
  4. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31)
  5. To the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. (Romans 4:5)
  6. Repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19)
  7. If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

X  How to Be Lost Forever

  1. Whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)
  2. Whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3:18)
  3. Whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. (John 3:36)
  4. You refuse to come to me to have life. (John 5:40)
  5. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins. (John 8:24)
  6. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction. (2 Thessalonians 1:8,9)
  7. How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? (Hebrews 2:3)

XI  How We May Know We Are Saved

  1. Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24)
  2. I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. (John 6:47)
  3. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:40)
  4. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28)
  5. This is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. (1 John 3:24)
  6. We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. (1 John 4:16)
  7. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)

XII  No Time to Be Lost

  1. My Spirit will not contend with man forever. (Genesis 6:3)
  2. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. (Proverbs 27:1)
  3. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. (2 Kings 7:9)
  4. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24:44)
  5. I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
  6. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts. (Hebrews 3:7,8)
  7. The time is near. (Revelation 22:10)
